PETALING JAYA: A young man is fighting for his life at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang after an accident on Sunday, allegedly involving Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Sue Lim(pic).
The incident occurred just after midnight at a traffic light junction near the Selangor Industrial University (Unisel) in Section 7, Shah Alam.
Ng is believed to have lost control of his car after hitting the road divider.
The victim, identified as Mohd Bakri Mohd Bazli, 23, is said to be a student at a tertiary institute in the State and was riding a motorcycle when it collided with Ng’s car.
Allegations have been made that Ng might have been drunk when the incident occurred.
It was also alleged that police failed to conduct an alcohol test on Ng when he went to lodge a report on the incident at the Shah Alam Section 11 police station.
Selangor Public Order and Traffic Police chief Supt Che Hussin Omar, when contacted by The Malay Mail, confirmed that Ng lodged a report on the day of the incident.
“We have recorded his statement and also statements from two people who said they were at the scene when the incident occurred."
The two, Che Hussin said, came forward to assist police in the investigation a day after the incident.
Ng is currently being investigated for reckless driving.
On the allegation that police did not conduct a test on Ng to check whether he was drunk at the time of the accident, Che Hussin said he would have to investigate it.
“In normal circumstances, if a person is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he or she would be sent to hospital to have blood samples taken for toxicology tests.”
Che Hussin was not sure what really transpired at the police station when Ng went to lodge his report. “I will check on this,” he promised.
He also said the victim had yet to regain consciousness.
